The value of freedom in a country is priceless. If one country has freedom of speech and thought then they are sure to have a bright future ahead of them. How so? If a society has freedom of thought then they are free to explore their interests or whatever else that may pique their curiosity, which could eventually lead them to great knowledge and amazing discoveries. Take the United States for example. America has surpasses all the other countries of the world not only economically but technologically as well. Although it is true that most technological inventions and other scientific discoveries did not really originated from the Americans themselves but rather are attributed to citizens of other countries. However, it is undeniable that these technological inventions are enhanced and further developed in America. Thanks to America’s innovative patent system these technological inventions are put to better use.
Just what is a patent you asked? The term “patent” is generally defined as a set of exclusive rights granted by the government to a person for a certain period of time (usually for 20 years) in return for the regulated, public disclosure of some information about their invention. It was Thomas Jefferson who initiated the first national patent system in the United States of America during the year 1790. From then on, this exclusive right has been protecting the inventor’s interest by preventing other people from copying, using or selling the already claimed invention.

You also have knowledge about the main features such as WAP and from the cell phone vendors and service providers. But you must aware of what they really mean? There are numerous mobile technologies So next time, when you are going to purchase a phone, you should know what technologies it has. Generations of mobile communications In the late 1970s, the first generation of mobile communications was introduced; it was primarily used for voice transfer. Second generation systems came into existence in the early 1990s and was further developed to 2.5G, which includes high technologies such as These technologies were used for voice and data. The next generation of mobile communications is 3G which delivers data speeds from 384 kbps to 2 Mbps and over wireless interfaces such as GSM, TDMA and CDMA. The phone access technologies frequency division multiple access. The first-generation analog mobile access method; for each call, uses separate frequencies. For instance, if there are four stations, each will receive their own frequency.

Technology Transfer Officer Tips

There is no doubt that these are tough economic times. Unemployment is high and credit is tight. Key indicates show that is the worse economy in a generation. Many technology transfer offices have seen potential business partners reduce their innovation portfolios and expenditures. Here are seven tips to help your technology transfer office succeed in these tough economic times. Maintain a list of problems that are relevant to the research and technologies in the pipeline. Technology transfer offices typically get involved in research commercialization efforts late in the research and testing process. This continuous conduit will go a lot further than a long forgotten entrepreneurial seminar. Develop alternative commercialization strategies early. I sit on the advisory board for some start up focused investment funds. One of the strategies that we have developed recently is to go for the big distribution partnering deal with large companies. It wasn’t that long ago that many universities shunned the entire technology transfer process. In order to get more businesses interested in potential technology look for new ways to reduce their potential risks. Right now cash is king. All technology start ups need money. That is a known fact. The truth is that many could get by with less money than they think that they need. They play a vital role in the economic development of their respective communities and states. Unlike many organizations involved in the invention commercialization process they do not compete. Some technology transfer offices such as Stanford and MIT are the envy of their peers, however most technology transfer offices do not reside in a geographic area that harbors entrepreneurship in its DNA.Partnering with other technology transfer offices offers many unique benefits that cannot be found though other means.

How Technology Is Affecting Our Lives
Monday, April 05th, 2010 | Author: admin

Today’s world is full of pieces of technology that we take for granted, the microchip has truly revolutionised the way in which we live and do business. The world we see would not be recognisable to people of a few generations ago and nowhere is this truism greater than in the world of computing. Hence it is important to stay up to date with technology news; while many may think that this type of news is purely for geeks it is clear that all of us should have at least a passing interest in news of technological developments. Technology pretty much touches all of our lives in some way and hence technology news is a vital resource that can keep us up to date with developments and ways in which the world will be changing. For instance, the onset of digital television is something that will affect most people; news stories that inform us of the dates for the switch over are vital so the average member of public can understand when their analogue signal will be turned off. In the same way, news of technologies that may make our cars safer and more efficient is important to all those who drive on our roads. Anyone of a reasonable age will remember the BBC’s ‘Tomorrow’s World; a technological news show that brought us stories of the latest developments and the ways life would be changed in the future.

Technology Vendor Contracting: Breaking the Mold
Monday, July 05th, 2010 | Author: admin

Commercial buyers of information technology products and services are locked into a self-defeating pattern of behavior when it comes to negotiating contract terms and conditions with technology vendors, and it is time to move on to a better approach. Better technology vendor negotiations produce better contracts for a technology project, and better contracts produce better project outcomes. So, break the mold and move on to a better way of negotiating contract terms and conditions for your next technology project. Let us assume that by now you have done a lot of planning and information gathering for your proposed technology project, you have completed a vendor selection process, and now it is time to document your deal with your chosen vendor. At this stage in the technology procurement process, the most common practice—indeed the almost-universal practice—is to distribute the vendor’s proposed contracts to your project team for review and comment. Then, as if by instinct, everyone starts looking for vendor bias in the contracts. No one has been given this specific directive. You simply assume and expect that everyone knows the drill. Folks on your project team begin striking certain biased provisions and scribbling notes about amending others. For sure, removing or limiting vendor bias in the contracts is a worthwhile exercise, but now is not the time to perform this exercise. I had to get several technology deals under my belt before I realized this, but at this early stage of the contracting process, you really need to focus first on terms and conditions that are important to you, not the terms and conditions that are important to your vendor.

The Importance Of Technology News
Friday, March 05th, 2010 | Author: admin

The importance of technology cannot be underestimated; the technological industries are probably the fastest moving in the world following news stories is vital because technology can cover all manner of industries and hence news stories vary greatly in subject matter. In today’s high tech world it is unsurprising that so many areas of commerce and life depend upon technology and subsequently, any news in these fields is of vital importance to even the lay reader. Technology news is so important that many news websites have created dedicated pages purely to report on technological developments.Naturally industries such as computing and video gaming are heavily interested in the developments reported as part of technology news stories. In computing new processor chips as well as other developments are always followed closely to assess the power of future computers. The same can be said for the video games industry that constantly uses technology news stories to keep an eye on what competitors are doing.
Not only can news in this industry contain technological developments but sales figures and levels of worldwide sales of consoles or games. Another essential element of news in the gaming industry is to see which games are being banned and heavily policed by regulators as this can help developers gain a good idea of where the boundaries lay in game development.

Shrinking product development cycles coupled with demanding product requirements and increasingly complex design implementations can overwhelm a design team. The technical risk of employing new, complex, high-speed processor technology can often deter a design group from incorporating new technology in their product designs.Intel Corporation’s ATOM processor and low power chipset solution is a technology choice which cannot be overlooked. With the potential for wide application in deeply embedded, low power, fanless industrial, medical, communications, automotive and consumer applications this technology demands attention. A typical Orchid Technologies’ client in the fanless industrial space may require customized GPIO; perhaps special data logging features: possibly specialized precision analog electronics; or maybe the integration of a specialized DSP front end. Among the many highly embedded IA32 circuit board designs we have performed include:Comverse’s Series IV Telecommunications Processor. This Pentium-based product built on Orchid’s IA32 Processor Core Design, is coupled to a Texas Instruments based DSP Soft Modem, Solid State Disk Drive, and Telephony Line interfaces. This Pentium-based product built on Orchid’s IA32 Processor Core Design, mixed our client’s old grandfathered controls-technology with today’s modern laser communications solutions. In this design, we preserved the best elements of our client’s obsolete existing design while modernizing its features and extending product life another ten years. As electronics technology, continues to evolve the requirements for high-speed devices, tighter integration, enhanced functionality, and low power pose design challenges for any product development team. Amazing Technological Advancements Of 2008
Saturday, September 04th, 2010 | Author: admin

You may remember the things that seemed impossible when you were a child: talking to somebody on the other side of the world, for free and anytime you like was probably one of them, along with a cure for AIDS, and being invisible. All of these boundaries have been broken, completely or at least in effect. Surely we will be flying, teleporting and living to our two-hundredth birthdays, within the next century! However, sometimes the simplest advances are the most amazing, not least because they are actually here, now. In this article we look at some amazing advancements in technology from 2008, specifically with regard to computer hardware, software, network performance management and information technology infrastructure.

Do you remember the science fiction movies where messages are projected onto walls, or even into the middles of rooms like in Star Wars? Well, the first steps to that technology have been unveiled by Microsoft at the CEO Summit in Washington recently. Microsoft has developed laser technology that can turn any surface into a touchscreen, and allow you to interact with a central computer, even on the internet. This information technology infrastructure means you could be having chat conversations on the kitchen bench while cooking, or reading emails in the shower, before long. We aim higher than even Bill Gates comment that we should “Think about the whiteboard in your office becoming intelligent”.

Not likely to be hailed as a genius breakthrough by consumers, but perhaps the savior of the music industry, is a new digital fingerprinting technology being developed primarily by LTU technologies. Long has law enforcement and information technology consultants thrown their hands up in helplessness at the problems of piracy of music and video content, saying there is juts no way to control it. However, digital fingerprinting could save the music and video industries millions of dollars every year. Key identifiers in a file are pattern matched against a central database – if a pattern is copyrighted, it can’t be uploaded. This information technology infrastructure also has the potential to do wonders for network performance management, as traffic levels drop.

Sometimes the most amazing advancements are also the ones that you didn’t realize weren’t yet possible. Ordinary people have heard of wireless technology, and immediately assumed they could be surfing the internet from their laptop while skydiving, travelling the countryside, or out in deep dark forests.

The reality is a lot more sober – however, there has recently been an amazing new development in wireless information technology infrastructure that allows delivery of audio and video content to passengers on the Singapore Flyer, the world’s tallest observation deck. It was previously impossible to get data reliably through such a tall, large and dense structure, which was also continuously moving. However, an IT consulting firm has developed solutions which allow just that. Laptops while skydiving are one step closer, at least!

New wireless sensor technology might also help track both computational loads on large mainframes, and the heat distribution of your house. Microsoft has developed very cheap wireless sensors that can be used to collect and transmit data, as well as controlling environments. For about $3 a sensor, in the future you could have an automatically, perfectly climate controlled home. No more chilly hallways and dank corners!

While we aren’t teleporting or outliving turtles yet, it seems that it certainly won’t be long.

Wi-Fi Technology

  Written By

Tamoor Akbar

(National Textile University,Pakistan)

October2008

What is WiFi ?

Wi-Fi is new technology enabling images from a computer to be transmitted to the projector without a hard-wire connection. Hence the use of a VGA cable to connect the computer and the projector is no longer required.

Why Wi-Fi?

The purpose of Wi-Fi is to hide complexity by enabling wireless access to applications and data, media and streams. The main aims of Wi-Fi are the following:

make access to information easier ensure compatibility and co-existence of devices eliminate cabling and wiring eliminate switches, adapters, plugs, pins and connectors.

How wi-Fi works?

It uses a new technology, which for the purpose of transmission of information over greater distances. Put simply, WiFi can transmit information up to ten times faster than Bluetooth, and up to six times further than Bluetooth.WiFi networks use radio technologies called IEEE 802.11b or 802.11a to transmit data from the internet connection to the host computer (e.g. your laptop). These technologies provide reliable and fast wireless connectivity and to some degree a level of security (to be addressed below). A Wi-Fi network can be used to connect computers to each other, to the Internet, and to wired networks.

Wi-Fi networks operate in the unlicensed 2.4 and 5 GHz radio bands, with an 11 Mbps (802.11b) or 54 Mbps (802.11a) data rate or with products that contain both bands (dual band), so they can provide real-world performance similar to the basic 10BaseT wired Ethernet networks used in many offices

Elements of a WI-FI Network

•         Access Point (AP) - The AP is a wireless LAN transceiver or “base station” that can connect one or many wireless devices simultaneously to the Internet.

•         Wi-Fi cards - They accept the wireless signal and relay information. They can be internal and external.(e.g PCMCIA Card for Laptop and PCI Card for Desktop PC)

•         Safeguards - Firewalls and anti-virus software protect networks from uninvited users and keep information secure.

 Limitations

 •         Interference

•         Degradation in performance

•         High power consumption

•         Limited range

Uses

·        Wi-Fi enabled device such as a PC, game console, mobile phone, MP3 player or PDA can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. The coverage of one or more interconnected access points — called a hotspot — can comprise an area as small as a single room with wireless-opaque walls or as large as many square miles covered by overlapping access points. Wi-Fi technology has served to set up mesh networks,

·        In addition to restricted use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can make access publicly available at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free of charge or to subscribers to various providers. Organizations and businesses such as airports, hotels and restaurants often provide free hotspots to attract or assist clients. Enthusiasts or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business in a given area sometimes provide free Wi-Fi access. Metropolitan-wide Wi-Fi (Muni-Fi) already has more than 300 projects in process.[2] There were 879 Wi-Fi based Wireless Internet service providers in the Czech Republic as of May 2008.

·        Wi-Fi also allows connectivity in peer-to-peer (wireless ad-hoc network) mode, which enables devices to connect directly with each other. This connectivity mode can prove useful in consumer electronics and gaming applications.

·        Many consumer devices use Wi-Fi. Amongst others, personal computers can network to each other and connect to the Internet, mobile computers can connect to the Internet from any Wi-Fi hotspot, and digital cameras can transfer images wirelessly.

·        One can also connect Wi-Fi devices in ad-hoc mode for client-to-client connections without a router.

In wake of recent mining tragedies, some technology companies have suggested extension of wireless real-time location technology using WiFi networks to pinpoint miners trapped underground – a solution that could save lives in the future.

Wi-Fi technology has spread widely within business and industrial sites. In business environments, just like other environments, increasing the number of Wi-Fi access-points provides redundancy, support for fast roaming and increased overall network-capacity by using more channels or by defining smaller cells. Wi-Fi enables wireless voice-applications (VoWLAN or WVOIP). Over the years, Wi-Fi implementations have moved toward “thin” access-points, with more of the network intelligence housed in a centralized network appliance, relegating individual access-points to the role of mere “dumb” radios. Outdoor applications may utilize true mesh topologies. As of 2007 Wi-Fi installations can provide a secure computer networking gateway, firewall, DHCP server, intrusion detection system, and other functions.

Growth of Wi-Fi technology in some previous years clearly shows Wi-Fi will cannibalize all other wireless technologies. We can say “the future is of Wi-Fi”.

As a technology and intellectual property attorney in La Jolla, Carlsbad, San Diego, California, Irvine, Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario and the Palm Springs and Palm Desert area, like many who remain hopeful for the future, new developments in technology are constantly catching one’s eye.

Whenever current affairs, such as the current economic crisis makes the news seem bleak, an inventor or scientist makes a startling new discovery or obtains a patent that could be of monumental help to mankind.

A recent report has come out that the Chinese are building what was thought to be an impossible space drive, one that might not only open up the possibilities of much more extensive space exploration but which could also transform any type of travel and if achieved. While other scientists are downplaying this announcement as unlikely, while possibly seeking to duplicate their efforts, if this discovery turns out to be accurate, it may provide the Chinese with advantages over other countries if their engine and this new space drive cannot be matched by the U.S.

This EMdrive or electromagnetic relativity drive is thought by other scientists to violate the law of conservation of momentum and has been branded as just another perpetual motion devices that have been disproved time and time again.

However, the researcher behind the Emdrive states that his engine is not a perpetual motion machine and that rather than being at odds with Einstein, relies upon Einstein’s theories being correct.

Another scientist working on the Chinese project has experience with microwave plasma thrusters and it is reported that the engineering principles of building the two engines are similar.

Whether or not this new technology will be proved feasible or not, eventually technologies will be developed that either achieve extended travel with little or no energy usage. While one can certainly see the possibilities for long-range space travel and use of such technology by satellites, they also present hope for the future in daily travel on freeways with a reduction in pollution.

While it is unlikely that we will soon see this technology available at Wal-mart, one can imagine how such technology or extensions of it could make many kinds of travel less expensive and less energy wasteful in the future.

As a patent attorney, one can only hope that other U.S. scientists will study the possibility of this discovery and improve upon it so it can be patented by U.S. interests.

Other researchers today are constantly looking to develop materials that can absorb the energy of an impact without injury to the occupants. If vehicles could someday have impacts and not only absorb the energy but utilize it, the future looks much safer and less expensive for travel.

Combined, travel on roads and freeways would be safer, quieter, more energy efficient and better for the environment so long as such engines and materials could be built cheaply and without using the same level of energy saved by such vehicles.

There’s always a downside though. Imagine if you will, the ability to drive at little or no cost across the state or across the country safely and without pollution in your technologically advanced vehicle. Now imagine if you will, how many other vehicles will be on the same freeways as you.

How Media Technology Can Enrich our Lives
Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 | Author: admin

Without a doubt, the rapidly advancing media technology in today’s day and age can most certainly enrich our everyday lives here living in the United States of America. There are many examples that are already quite commonplace in our society, and no doubt there will be some technology developed in the near future that we can’t even imagine as of right now. But indeed, one does not have to look far in order to see some examples of how media technology is already enriching our everyday lives.

GPS: Many people now have GPS navigation systems installed in their car – technology that was unheard of only fifteen to twenty years ago. Gone are the days of flipping through the awkwardly-sized road atlas as you are trying to drive down the road. Now all you have to do is type in your destination, and a computer voice will guide you right to the spot. You can even get real time road and construction information, as well as any breaking news in the area through your GPS. All of these features and more make GPS systems well worth their money, and a form of new media technology that is catching on quite quickly and gaining in popularity.

Touch screen monitors: Touch screens have been in place for years all around the country. Many cash registers have converted to touch screen technology, and more recently, touch screen technology has now made its way into the homes of normal, average computer users all around the country. Using a touch screen, you can accomplish tasks much quicker on a computer than you ever could before – everything is literally right in front of your eyes and right underneath your fingertips for the easiest access ever.

HDTV: High-definition technology is a brand new form of television broadcast, and probably the newest form of media technology that is out there on the market today. Through the use of HD broadcasting and HD signals, television channels are broadcast with stunning clarity and an in-depth sound that has never been heard before. Combine this with the latest in plasma television and include a surround sound theatre system, and you are all set.

The United States government is even embracing the media technology that is HDTV; so much so that they have required that all television signals and broadcasts be in high definition by February of 2009. For those of you with older television sets that only work with an analog signal, you are going to have to get a converter box, or else you will have no television reception whatsoever. According to the United States government, this is a matter of national security – the television is needed to relay information to the general public in the event that an emergency is taking place.

If you are not receiving a television signal however, this information will never find its way to you and as a result, you could miss out on some important precautions or instructions. In an attempt to avoid this problem, the government is issuing vouchers which can save you some money when purchasing an HDTV converter box.

News With a View – Technology Videos
Monday, August 23rd, 2010 | Author: admin

A picture equals thousand words and a moving picture equals thousand pictures – such is the power of video.

Small wonder that technology videos, a more recent manner of disseminating technology news, are a popular marketing tool of most companies selling gadgetry and/or technologies. Then there is the deteriorating attention span of readers/viewers – another factor that makes videos a more attractive marketing option. Who wants to plod through the yellow pages or through small print technology news? Who wants a fact file in a droning monotone, accompanied by still shots of the product in a powerpoint presentation? Avail, instead, the instant information provided by a technology video.

Take, for example, Digital TV. Demonstration of how that particular technology works, through a technology video, leaves no room for doubt. People are assured that what they see is what they get and will line up to choose Digital TV over every other sort. The video can further offer comparisons and help the consumer choose to his advantage. Also, remember the old adage – you hear, you forget; you see, you remember? Technology videos probably act on this principle.

Technology news can be pretty dry and incomprehensible if served in the conventional manner. Packing in all the features of a product in the limited space often does not do justice to the product. It can be a daunting task for the page creator and equally so for the reader. It puts him off before he reaches the bottom of the page, whereas a lively video will have you wanting to see more. Moreover, it is difficult for the prospective buyer to translate, say, Intel XXXX into what he will actually get in terms of everyday operations. A video offers a clear picture, literally.

A short video film, strategically embedded in various related web sites is just the thing to boost sales and to differentiate your product from the others. A single click takes the prospect through 2 minutes of intensive watching, hearing and reading and he most likely comes away mesmerized and converted. Technology videos are definitely on!

The New Information Technology Marketplace
Saturday, August 21st, 2010 | Author: admin

This article is also available as a Podcast on “The RootCause” podcast series available on iTunes.

As our country begins what I can only hope is a new era, I find myself wondering about the future of our industry. Information Technology took a very hard hit in the Dot Bomb Crash of 2000. I was under contract to Lucent Technologies at the time and the impact there was enormous. Jobs were lost by the thousands, and so were retirements. Now, in 2008 and 2009, we see another financial bomb–but we also see a new vision.

In 2000, the world discovered that just being on the Internet did not guarantee success. Prior to that, business was doing well at moving money around, if not actually producing much. The cash had to keep moving or it would settle to the ground and people would notice that there wasn’t that much new money–just the same funds moving in circles–redistributing. Maybe that is what finally happened. Maybe the music stopped and everyone realized that there weren’t enough chairs for everyone–and panicked.

The financial bomb this time is a bit different and as I am not a financial consultant, I will not try to explain it–even if I fully understood it-which I do not. My concern here is the impact of this market on my industry, the Information Technology Industry. This time it seems, we are not dead center on the bull’s eye–instead we are the arrow point. We went through our decimation and many of us retired, retrained in other fields or just gave up. Others stayed on and have continued to grow with the technology. It’s leaner and meaner and there are far fewer of us to do what needs doing. But, it is also the foundation of the new economy to come.

New energy systems and a rewrite of the way that the Health Care Industry does business will be heavily steeped in Information Technology. Our skills are going to be in more and more in demand as companies around the world, and here in the United States, scramble for ways to create a sustainable future for our planet and our respective countries. We will be right in the middle of it. Are you ready for that? Are you really?

One side effect of the trimming down of our industry has been reluctance to invest in upgrades, to improve efficiency of systems and, most importantly, to create. Older equipment and technology are often still in place–in mission critical positions. Products at the end of their support cycles, that are still working, are still in place. After all, why fix what isn’t broken? Money is tight.

Here is why you should fix it while it is still working.

(1) Because it IS still working. Once a component fails, you will end up scrambling to replace it–making bad decisions and building sloppy installations.

(2) Because new software tools, operating system manufacturers, (think patches), and other manufacturers of equipment, do not perform regression testing back to the beginning of time. If your operation system or other software tools are past that magical line in the sand, new-supposedly helpful-patches and upgrades could break your systems in unforeseeable and unsupportable ways.

(3) Because it is not about keeping your position in a company or in a market. It is about creating new technologies, processes and markets. The old ways don’t cut it anymore and whoever creates a solution to a problem, regardless of country or marketplace, will drive the economies of the world–and of their niche in the global marketplace. If your company creates products or provides services, you need to be on the crest of the wave.

President Obama has asked us to be willing to make hard decisions and to work to create the new technologies that will drive the world’s economy. I for one, embrace the call. Let’s stop trying to make our money by moving money from one pocket to another and begin once again to create. You, the people of the Information Technology Industry, are going to be right at the heart of it. Technologists, look for companies that want to be there too. Information Technology Managers, look for people with passion. Let the wonder that first led you to master an aspect of the magic of technology once again inspire you. This is our moment. This is our challenge. It’s time once again to have some fun with this stuff!

Dependable Maxell Lto-3 Technology
Thursday, August 19th, 2010 | Author: admin

No doubt the requirements of future are to securely record, capture and hold huge amounts of information no matter the applications are data retrieval, archiving, disaster recovery or data backup. Therefore the aims of semi-conductor, optical and magnetic storage media’s manufacturers are to record more data amounts at reduced cost and faster rate. Magnetic tape is the superior storage technology that can hold data safely for longer time duration. When we compare these different storage technologies, the conclusion is that the magnetic data tape’s per GB cost is the lowest. LTO tape technology has achieved greater storage space per cartridge and is still increasing with the introduction of its new generations. The storage capacity of LTO tape has gone beyond 1 terabyte. LTO-4 tape can store 1.6 terabytes of compressed data. This is really massive data amount as 1TB can accommodate three hundred million text pages. There are numerous challenges that the high- capacity storage media have to handle. These challenges include reduction in metal particle’s size, reduced tape thickness, low cost per GB, increased track density and bit density. Maxell has achieved these goals and devised the best solution to overcome these challenges by introducing the Neo Super Maximum capacity Advanced Reliability Tape (Neo-SMART) technology in the LTO3 (183950) tape format. Neo-SMART is combination of 7 key technologies that contribute to the overall high reliability and output of the Maxell ultrium LTO-3. Technologies included in Neo SMART are advanced dispersion, fine metal-particles, ultra thin coating, high-performance tape cartridge, advanced calendaring, stable writing of servo-track writing and ultra precise slitting. Maxell has employed strong and durable dual-binder mechanism in the LTO-3 (183950) tape by the induction of Neo-SMART technology. As the density of metal particles is increased, the metal particles tend to stick with each other. So the tape surface gets rough resulting in reduction of the signal strength. Maxell found the solution to this problem and introduced two complementary mechanisms that ensure ultra smooth dispersion of the metal particles. This advanced mechanism makes even dispersion of metal particles and afterwards each particle is adhered by a specific binder layer. The metal particles are adhered through a chemical process. Technologies included in Neo SMART are advanced dispersion, fine metal-particles, ultra thin coating, high-performance tape cartridge, advanced calendaring, stable writing of servo-track writing and ultra precise slitting. It is necessary that the tape reel should be highly durable and tough as the quantity of heads has increased in the modern tape storage products. Maxell has employed strong and durable dual-binder mechanism in the LTO-3 (183950) tape by the induction of Neo-SMART technology. Neo SMART comprises of binders some of them are primary while the others are secondary. Neo SMART with the help of tough chemical bonding forms a three dimensional (3-D) structure. This structure increases the magnetic layer’s resistance against heat ensuring high level of reliability and accuracy in severe conditions. So the technology of Neo-SMART in the Maxell ultrium LTO3 cartridge helps to provide the best and accurate results even under high pressure and work load. Advanced dispersion and chemical bonding because of the Neo SMART technology makes the LTO tape cartridge more powerful, robust and tough with increased tape life.
